College Board Scholarship Handbook (print)
College Board Scholarship Handbook (print)
Grades: 10+ | Subject(s): College Scholarships/Financial Aid | Overall rating: 10
This is an incredible resource for anyone preparing to start college. There are many financial aid opportunities available; however, most students take out large loans to pay for college. This handbook begins with a guide to users on how to use the book and an explanation of financial aid and finding and applying for scholarships. The authors also included a section on different sources of funding information for state grant programs and different eligibility indexes.
The largest portion of the book is devoted to listing scholarship, internship, and loan options available to students. All of these three sections are listed alphabetically by title. Most listings include the name, type, intended use, eligibility requirements, application and selection process, and contact information to find out more information. I assigned this resource an overall rating of 9 because some of the information is out-of-date. I think had our library purchased an updated copy of this handbook every couple of years, this would be a very valuable resource. Even with the dated copy, users can find different examples of scholarships and possibly visit the website for the sponsoring organization to find out more current information.
